Gordon Jay Moore

Letter from Jeff Norris
Dear Perimeter family,
It is with deep sadness that I am writing to inform you that Gordon Moore passed away this past Saturday night, April 19, after a valiant battle with cancer. Gordon was a tremendous man of God and truly one of the greatest men I’ve ever known. His life was one marked by generosity and service to his family, his church, and ultimately his Savior. So, it is with heavy hearts that we, as the body of Christ, grieve the passing of our dear brother in Christ. However, we don’t grieve as those without hope, for we know that he is now in the presence of the Lord and that we who are in Christ will be reunited with him in glory soon enough.
Gordon was one of the most influential leaders at Perimeter Church for the better part of four decades, having served on the church’s staff for 39 years. Serving alongside founding pastor Randy Pope, the Lord used Gordon to shape and form a great deal of the culture and direction of Perimeter as the Chief of Operations/Financial Officer and later as Director of Generosity. Always behind the scenes, Gordon was a true servant and helper.
When it comes to integrity and faithfulness, Gordon was a model and mentor to many at Perimeter and certainly well beyond our church. It is hard to express just how many lives were impacted by his leadership and friendship or how many more have been indirectly blessed through the years by his wise counsel and stewardship. Much of who we are today as a church is because of Gordon Moore.
We will have a funeral service on Friday, April 25, at 11 am in the Main Sanctuary at Perimeter Church, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Please note our Medlock Bridge entrance and parking lots will be closed for a Friday evening event, so please use our entrances and lots near the Main Entrance on Medlock Crossing Pkwy or on Old Alabama Rd.
I hope you will join me in lifting up the Moore family in prayer this week, including Gordon’s wife Joy, his daughters Amy and Ashley (husband Justin), and his grandchildren Luke and Abby. We mourn with them, and yet, we also celebrate with them. We celebrate a man whose life left an indelible mark on Perimeter Church and the kingdom of God.
Well done, Gordon, good and faithful servant.
Yours,
Jeff Norris
Senior Pastor
