Forward in Faith | Fall 2024

For more than 25 years, Perimeter Ballet has taught students to worship the Lord through dance and their daily lives. This ministry of the church offers classes for ages 3-18 and is committed to helping students grow in character and integrity as they receive a high-quality dance education. This philosophy is reflected in their slogan “Dance with a POINTE!”

Ballet Director Becky Brown said being a part of Perimeter Ballet for more than 20 years has been a “real joy!” Each year, there are about 280 students, which means over the years, thousands of dance students (from both inside and outside the church) have been impacted by the ministry. Many go on to dance in college or professionally.

“When I became a part of Perimeter Ballet, I became a part of a family that helped shape who I am today,” declared Jenna Myers, a former student. “Not only did Perimeter Ballet teach dance in an encouraging and Christ-centered environment, it also helped me learn to use my passion for dance as a form of worship that deepened my relationship with God.”

During class, teachers lead the students in prayer and a short devotional tailored to their age and the biblical theme for the year. This year they are learning from the book of James.

Perimeter Ballet also includes a performance company of middle and high school students. This company is called “For His Glory,” based on a sermon given years ago by Founding Pastor Randy Pope that encouraged our congregation to “do all things for His glory; all things for His highest pleasure.”

Each year, the company presents two large performances at Perimeter, often featuring professional dancers. Many in the church use these special events as opportunities to invite friends and family. This year they will perform Behold the Lamb of God on December 15 and Beauty and the Beast on February 7-8, 2025.

Susanna Carey is a former student who is now a teacher. “Though we strive for high technique training, we also teach the importance of using our talents for God’s glory to honor Him with our gifts we’ve been given,” she said. “This unique perspective has shaped my life in ways I could not have imagined, and I’m honored to pass this on to my own students.”
