Forward in Faith | Summer 2024
Campus Outreach Atlanta is a student organization serving on the campuses of both Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Georgia. It is also a ministry of Perimeter Church. Their goal is to passionately reach students with the gospel and train them to become mature followers of Christ who are equipped to labor for God’s glory once they leave college.
Campus Outreach Director, Jeremy Moore, said, “College is one the most strategic places in the world to raise up laborers for Christ, and these two campuses are especially important because of their size and influence.”
The Campus Outreach team focuses on evangelism and discipleship and works to build relationships with fraternities and sororities on campus. Last year on the UGA and Georgia Tech campuses, around 190 young men in fraternities came weekly to read the Bible. At Georgia Tech, around 60 women attended investigative studies. And this fall, the Campus Outreach team at UGA has expanded to include their first female staff member to engage with sorority women.
The Campus Outreach team finds the college students of this generation “authentic and transparent.” Many are open to spiritual conversations about deep things because they see the brokenness of the world all around them. There is a hunger for the gospel and students are coming to faith on campus.
Through deep relationships, the team helps those new to the faith establish biblical foundations and works to raise believers to maturity. Jeremy says their role is to “help college students see themselves as Christians first” and to give them a vision for themselves as redemptive laborers for God’s kingdom. As one young woman said, “I knew Jesus was my savior. I didn’t know what it meant for Him to be my Lord.”
When asked how the church family can help, Jeremy said, “Prayer is the biggest need. We often pray Matthew 9:38, (that the Lord would raise up and send out more laborers into His harvest). Please pray for lives to move from darkness to light and that these students would see themselves not just as believers, but as Christ-followers and laborers above all else.”
